I spend time on land to attune my senses. Sensual exteriority and interiority merge. I become the vehicle for landscape, its elemental matrix of nature. Ritual begins to arise spontaneously. Eventually I dwell in a territory where ritual is dissolved and only gestures remain.
This is where the pre-intentional bodily potency to be otherwise is disclosed, expressed in its appearing. The way of unfolding which is inherent in all things. The ultimate non-egoic ‘Husserlian’ hyletic sphere of sensation.
Exploring the way country and person are bound as body in Warlpiri cosmology, M. Jackson (1996) writes: ‘what is distinctive about Warlpiri anthropomorphism is that the human body and the body of the earth are metaphorically fused in terms of internal, visceral physiology and not just in terms of external anatomy.
